Van Driver Agency UK

Van and multi-drop drivers on a standard Category B licence, for parcel, courier and last-mile work, supplied as temporary cover to operators across the UK.

The problem

Why this seat is hard to fill

Van work turns over faster than any other seat in logistics. Volume is easy to find, reliability is not — the drivers who finish the route, scan properly and come back tomorrow are a much smaller group than the ones who apply.

Shift patterns

Sortation and load-out start before dawn, with routes out by mid-morning. Grocery and evening delivery slots run through to late evening, including weekends.

Pay and rates

Questions, answered

How fast can you supply a van and multi-drop driver?

Same-day cover is possible where the pool allows it and next day is the realistic standard. We would rather decline a booking than confirm one and fail to fill it on the morning.

What do you check before a van and multi-drop driver starts?

Category B licence checked by DVLA share code and re-checked every 90 days, with points and disqualification history reviewed. Right to work verified from original documents. References taken. Where the client requires it, a basic DBS check. Licence entitlements are re-checked every 90 days for as long as a worker is on our books.

How are temporary van and multi-drop drivers paid and invoiced?

PAYE hourly or per-route as agreed on the booking, paid weekly. Where a route is priced per drop, the drop count is agreed in writing before the shift. Holiday accrues under the Working Time Regulations. Hours are logged against the booking as a digital timesheet, which you approve or reject with a reason and approved timesheets roll into one consolidated weekly invoice.

Do the Agency Workers Regulations apply?

Yes. After 12 weeks in the same role with the same hirer, an agency worker qualifies for equal treatment on pay and basic conditions. We count that from the first shift and tell you before the threshold lands, not after.
