Looking for driving or warehouse work?

Transport Temps recruits people for temporary, ongoing and temp-to-perm assignments across the UK — HGV driving, van driving and warehouse work. Registering is free and commits you to nothing.

What we recruit for

Three kinds of work

HGV driving

Class 1 (C+E), Class 2 (Cat C) and 7.5 tonne (C1) work — trunking, tramping, multi-drop, container and store delivery, plus qualification-led work including ADR, HIAB, Moffett and tanker.

Van driving

Multi-drop, courier, collection and same-day work on a standard Category B licence, on single shifts or as a standing pattern.

Warehouse work

Operative, picking, packing, goods-in, dispatch, forklift, reach, counterbalance, stock control and warehouse administration, on days or nights.

What temporary work means

Temporary, ongoing and temp-to-perm

Temporary means a defined shift or block of shifts. You accept the ones you want and you are not penalised for the ones you do not.

Ongoing means a standing pattern with the same operator, week after week. It behaves like a regular job while keeping the flexibility of an assignment.

Temp-to-perm means the operator is looking at you for a permanent role and the assignment is the assessment. If it suits both sides you move onto their payroll. It is one of the most reliable routes into a permanent driving job.

Whichever it is, you are engaged through Transport Temps and paid by us. Before terms are agreed you must receive a Key Information Document setting out who pays you, how much, what is deducted and how holiday works. That is a legal requirement and not a courtesy.

Your position

What you are entitled to

  • A Key Information Document before terms are agreed, in writing, setting out pay, deductions and holiday.
  • The shift pattern, site address, start time and gate contact in writing before you travel.
  • Pay for the hours you actually worked, logged against the booking reference rather than a paper slip that can go missing.
  • Rights under the Agency Workers Regulations, including equal treatment on basic conditions after twelve weeks in the same role. How the clock works — and what pauses or resets it — is explained on the AWR page.
  • Nothing to pay. It is unlawful for an employment business to charge a work-seeker a fee for finding them work. We do not.
Registering

What happens when you register

You tell us what you hold and what work you want. We check your licence category, Driver CPC position, digital tachograph card and right to work — for warehouse roles, the machine certificates against the truck type. Those checks happen before you are offered a shift rather than after, which is the point of them.

Then we match you to bookings as they come in. You are not obliged to accept anything and turning a shift down does not take you out of the pool.

Finding temporary work — questions

Does it cost anything to register?

No — and it never will. It is unlawful for an employment business to charge a work-seeker a fee for finding them work.

Do I have to accept every shift offered?

No. You accept the work you want. Turning down a shift does not remove you from the pool.

What do I need to work as an agency HGV driver?

A valid licence for the category, a Driver CPC card that is in date, a digital tachograph card and the right to work in the UK. We check all four before you are confirmed to a shift.

Can temporary work lead to a permanent job?

Yes. Temp-to-perm is a normal outcome and one of the most reliable routes into a permanent driving job, because the operator has already seen you work.

How and when am I paid?

You are paid by Transport Temps against the hours logged on your timesheet for that booking. Your Key Information Document sets out the pay rate, the deductions and the holiday arrangement before you agree to anything.

Is there warehouse work if I do not drive?

Yes. Operative, picking, packing, goods-in, dispatch and stock control roles do not need a driving licence. Forklift, reach and counterbalance roles need the relevant certificate for that truck type.

Need staff?

Tell us who you need

Give us the class, the count, the dates and the shift. We confirm what we can cover and say plainly when we cannot.
