Flexible temporary warehouse staff
Operatives, pickers, packers, forklift drivers and warehouse administrators supplied for peak periods, seasonal demand, contract wins, absence and additional shifts.
A warehouse is staffed to a number, not to a rota
Warehouse staffing is a head-count problem before it is a skills problem. A pick face needs a number of people on it at six in the morning. The difference between the number planned and the number that walks through the gate is the difference between a shift that clears and one that carries work into tomorrow.
We supply temporary warehouse staff in the head count the site needs, for single shifts, defined peaks and standing ongoing patterns. Where the role needs a machine, the certificate is checked against the truck type the work actually uses rather than accepted as a general claim.
Warehouse roles we supply
- Warehouse operatives — general handling across goods-in, put-away, pick and dispatch.
- Pickers — order picking to a rate, on paper, RF scanner or voice.
- Packers — packing, labelling and consolidation to a despatch standard.
- Goods-in staff — booking in, checking against paperwork and flagging discrepancies rather than passing them on.
- Goods-out staff — marshalling, checking and staging loads for collection.
- Dispatch operatives — despatch lanes, manifesting and load sequencing.
- Loading and unloading staff — trailer work, cage handling and handball where the equipment does not do it.
- Forklift drivers — with the certificate read against the truck.
- Reach truck drivers — racked storage and high-level put-away.
- Counterbalance drivers — yard, trailer loading and ground-level movement.
- Warehouse administrators — paperwork, systems entry and gate administration.
- Stock controllers — cycle counting, discrepancy investigation and stock accuracy.
- Night shift warehouse staff — the pattern hardest to fill permanently and easiest to lose people over.
There is no such thing as a forklift licence
It is worth being precise about this, because the wrong assumption creates real risk. There is no forklift licence. What a competent operator holds is evidence of basic training on a specific category of truck. A counterbalance certificate does not make somebody a reach truck operator. The Health and Safety Executive is explicit on the point.
So when we supply a forklift, reach or counterbalance driver, the certificate is checked against the truck type the work uses. Any site-specific familiarisation remains yours to give — as it has to be, because only you know your racking, your aisles and your traffic routes.
Why employers choose Transport Temps
Transport specialists
We understand the pressures involved in transport, logistics and warehouse operations. A vehicle standing because a driver did not arrive is not an HR problem, it is a delivery failure with a customer on the other end of it.
Fast response
Temporary staffing requirements are usually urgent. We work quickly to identify suitable available candidates and we tell you what we can genuinely cover rather than accepting the booking and hoping.
Flexible recruitment
From one shift to an ongoing workforce requirement, the service adapts to your operation. There is no minimum booking and no obligation to keep a worker you did not ask for.
Compliance focused
Candidates are screened and checked before assignment, not afterwards. Licence category, Driver CPC, digital tachograph card and right to work are confirmed before anyone is named to you.
One recruitment partner
HGV drivers, van drivers and warehouse staff through one specialist business, on one booking reference, approved on one timesheet and billed on one consolidated weekly invoice.
Warehouse recruitment — questions
Can you supply warehouse staff at short notice?
Yes. Warehouse cover is generally easier to fill at short notice than specialist driving, because the pool is larger. Same-day is possible where availability allows and next day is the realistic standard.
Do you supply forklift drivers?
Yes — counterbalance, reach and VNA. We check the certificate against the truck type the work actually uses. There is no such thing as a forklift licence, so any supplier who offers you one is not reading the paperwork carefully.
Can you cover a full peak season?
Yes. Peak is booked as a block with an agreed daily head count rather than shift by shift, which gives both sides certainty. Tell us the window and the numbers.
Do you supply night shift warehouse staff?
Yes. Night patterns are booked in the same way as days and the pattern is agreed at booking so the worker knows it before accepting.
What is the minimum number of workers I can book?
One. There is no minimum head count and no minimum term.
Who is responsible for site induction?
You are — and that is not us avoiding it — only the site knows its own racking, aisles, traffic routes and evacuation procedure. We confirm the worker's qualifications and right to work before assignment; site-specific familiarisation happens on arrival.
Tell us who you need
Give us the class, the count, the dates and the shift. We confirm what we can cover and say plainly when we cannot.
